John co-founded BPEA in 2002 and is a senior partner of the firm.
John began his career at Advent International Corporation in 1985. He was one of the first employees and its first analyst. While at Advent, he was responsible for the establishment and development of several operating programs including the analyst and the proactive deal sourcing programs. John worked in all of the investment areas of the firm including early-stage technology, growth equity, and leveraged buyouts, while covering every industry sector including healthcare, industrial, retail, consumer products, and technology.
In 1996, John moved to Singapore to help integrate the acquisition of Advent’s affiliate in the region, South East Venture Investment Corporation, into Advent and to reposition the group to execute larger, later stage transactions. His experience at Advent covered all aspects of investing, including management of both funds and investor relations.
Upon his return from Asia, John joined The Tucker Anthony Private Equity Group (Park Street Capital) and helped establish it as a leading private equity fund of funds management company. Park Street Capital manages a series of funds for institutions and families. John was responsible for fund access, fundraising, fund oversight, and management.
John received a BA from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Advent International. John is a former trustee of Middlesex School.

Chris is a managing partner of BPEA.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2006, Chris was CEO of BuildLinks, Inc., a SaaS collaboration and communication company for the residential building industry. From 1998 to 2003, Chris was a partner at Southeast Interactive Technology Funds, an early-stage, IT-focused venture fund based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Early in his career, Chris specialized in marketing and business development, working with Fortune 500 clients and major advertising firms including BBDO and Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB) in New York.
Chris received a BA from Duke University and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He serves on the limited partner advisory boards of multiple private equity funds.
Chris was elected to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s board of trustees in March 2014 and chairs the investment and nominating committees. In March 2024, he became Chair of the Board of Trustees. He is a past president and emeritus trustee of the Meadowbrook School of Weston (Mass.), a private, nonprofit, co-educational independent day school for students in grades K-8.

Daniel is a partner at BPEA.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2008, Daniel was an analyst at State Street Corporation where he was responsible for reporting and analysis on a $4.0 billion portfolio. He began his career at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) within the domestic equity group. At SSGA, he monitored multiple high-value mutual funds and handled institutional relations.
Daniel received a BA in economics and Spanish from the Boston College Honors Program and an MBA from Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business. He also attended the Universidad Complutense de Madrid where he studied advanced language and global economics.

Marcin is a partner at BPEA.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2008, Marcin was an investment associate at the UNC Management Company, the asset manager of the endowment for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and affiliated institutions, where he served on the limited partner advisory committees of numerous private partnerships. He also has experience with Dogwood Equity, a small buyout firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, and with the Aurora Funds, a venture capital firm in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Marcin began his career at Hewitt Associates, where he worked as an analyst in the defined contribution practice and later the corporate finance group.
Marcin received a BA in economics from Rice University, a Masters of Arts in law and diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, and an MBA with highest honors from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was awarded a full fellowship.

Biyi is a director at BPEA. He sources, analyzes, conducts due diligence, and monitors BPEA’s fund investments and direct investments.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2017, Biyi was a research investment professional with the private equity team at StepStone Group, where he supported the firm’s fund investment and direct co-investment strategies. Prior to StepStone, he was a private debt analyst at Partners Group, where he focused on middle-market mezzanine and senior debt investments. Biyi began his career with Deutsche Bank as an analyst in the Financial Sponsors investment banking group.
Biyi holds a BA in economics from Amherst College.

Ryan is a director at BPEA. He sources, analyzes, conducts due diligence, and monitors BPEA’s direct investments.
Ryan returned to BPEA 2021. He was an Associate at BPEA before leaving in 2010 to receive his MBA. Post MBA, Ryan’s career has been primarily focused on operating roles. He was most recently with Witt O’Brien’s, a private-equity backed operating company focused on crisis and emergency management that was sold to a publicly traded strategic. There he was VP of Corporate Development and also led the FP&A and marketing functions. Ryan was also a Summer Associate with Brookside Mezzanine Partners and was part of the US private equity team at Cambridge Associates before originally joining BPEA.
Ryan received a BS in economics from Northeastern University and an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

George is a vice president at BPEA. He monitors and values BPEA’s direct investments and analyzes and conducts due diligence on investment opportunities.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2022, George was an Investment Manager in Aberdeen Standard Investments’ (ASI) Private Real Assets group. At ASI, George was responsible for sourcing and underwriting direct co-investment opportunities in the infrastructure, natural resources and real estate space. Before ASI, George graduated from General Electric’s (GE) Financial Management Program where he held various finance/strategy roles across GE’s energy, financial services and digital divisions.
George received a BA in economics and business from St. Lawrence University, and an MBA from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management.

Mike is a vice president at BPEA. He sources, analyzes, conducts due diligence, and monitors BPEA’s fund and direct investments.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2022, Mike was an investment professional with the private equity team at HarbourVest Partners, where he supported the firm’s primary fund investment strategy with a focus on the lower-middle market as well as emerging and diverse managers. Prior to HarbourVest, Mike began his career at Cambridge Associates where he supported pension clients in asset allocation, portfolio construction, and manager selection.
Mike received a BA in economics with honors from Harvard University.

Matt is a vice president at BPEA. He is responsible for driving multiple initiatives related to BPEA’s healthcare funds, their Taft-Hartley investors and advisors, and investment companies.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2024, Matt was a Regional Vice President for Labor & Trust at Included Health, where he was responsible for growth of the organization’s Taft-Hartley clients. Prior to Included Health, he was a senior consultant and credentialed actuary at Foster & Foster, where he provided dedicated benefit strategies, financial projections, and vendor evaluations for clients in both the Taft-Hartley and public sector spaces. Matt began his career at Towers Perrin, where he worked as an analyst in the pension and Other Post-Employment Benefits groups.
Matt received a B.B.A. in actuarial science from Georgia State University and was previously an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Carl-Philippe is a senior associate at BPEA. He monitors and values BPEA’s direct investments and analyzes and conducts due diligence on investment opportunities.
Prior to joining BPEA in 2022, Carl-Philippe was an investment associate at Cambridge Associates, where he conducted manager due diligence and advised institutional clients on private equity investments.
Carl-Philippe received a BS in finance and economics with honors from Virginia Tech University and an MS in finance from Vanderbilt University.
